Eligibility & terms

  • Available to Cash, IRA, and Margin accounts
  • Minimum $50,000 in total account value to apply
  • Securities must be fully paid-for or excess-margin securities
  • Hilltop Securities, our clearing firm, borrows eligible equities based on lending-market demand
  • Income shared 50/50 with the client; payments reflect monthly
  • No long-term commitment; terminate at any time in writing

Important considerations

  • Voting rights are forgone on loaned positions while on loan
  • Dividend payments on loaned shares are paid as cash in lieu (potential tax differences; consult tax advisor)
  • Loaned shares are not covered under SIPC; Hilltop Securities posts cash collateral at 102% of market value, marked daily
